N.U.D.E.S. has been going crazy with local club dives! We've been to Fly Point, Swansea, The Forum Pool, and then up to Halifax (actually Fly Point again). We've seen a lot of new faces on our trips, as well as a lot of friendly faces that keep on coming back.
Fly Point was a great success, with the club hiring a minibus to take members, followed by an awesome BBQ (chicken with greek yoghurt wraps!). The Swansea dive was interesting - divers arrived early with the best intentions of diving on slack tide, but in true Swansea fashion the tide changed when we weren't looking! ;) All was not lost however, as those who didn't make it in on time got a nice drift dive along the channel.
Getting up the morning of the Halifax Dive everyone was a bit reluctant. It was raining, cold and windy, and to top it off some of the committee had been at the UoN Sports Awards the night before. We made the journey to Nelson Bay and it was as wet above the surface as it was below it! It was worth it however, as within a minute of arriving at Fly Point we spotted dolphins swimming past. There were waves breaking through the middle of Port Stephens (not boats going out that day), but on the shore it was calm enough, and surprisingly the visibility was 7 metres. It was decided that the club would dive at Fly Point instead of Halifax as Fly Point is more protected. All in all it was a great day, with 22 divers there from N.U.D.E.S., plus a social dive group from NDC and the guys from Tec Divers doing some skills.
